Designation | |
Carbon dioxide (CO₂) is commonly used as a shielding gas in semi-automatic welding (MIG/MAG). Carbon dioxide is used in welding for details made of low carbon and low alloy steels. The use of carbon dioxide makes it possible to obtain good penetration of metal, especially thick metal. Due to the low stability of the arc, it is recommended to use carbon dioxide only when welding on a short arc. Carbon dioxide (CO₂) during the welding , is commonly produced much more slag, smoke and spatter than the mix of Argon (Ar) and Carbon dioxide (CO₂). The welding speed in a Сarbon dioxide is significantly lower than in a mixture of Argon (Ar) and Carbon dioxide (CO₂). |
